The Green Sail Footprint Program

Make sustainability simple. The Green Sail Footprint program is a per-vessel rating system that measures emissions and sustainability actions onboard a boat.

We help our Partners to measure their environmental output to develop a concrete roadmap to sustainability.

Cost: €30 per vessel

How the Footprint Works

Step 1

Complete the Green Sail Footprint survey with essential information for each yacht you want to verify, including important data elements such as engine hours and engine models.

Step 2

Once the survey is complete, we will calculate a Green Sail Footprint for each of the yachts you have supplied data for.

Step 3

Once your Green Sail Footprint is calculated, you'll receive a detailed breakdown of your results and gain a thorough overview of your environmental impact.

How it’s Calculated

We evaluate your vessel's emissions and sustainability actions, resulting in a sustainability rating out of 5. A rating of 1 indicates a significant environmental footprint and a rating of 5 signifies proactive environmental mitigation.

We also assess the following factors that lessen your impact: antifouling processes, onboard renewable energy sources (e.g. solar panels and water makers) and waste separation. Additionally, we consider operational factors such as vessel age, usage frequency and purpose (i.e. charter or leisure).

We assess 6 key areas to measure the environmental footprint of your vessel(s):

  • Emissions produced onboard
  • Renewable energy sources
  • Waste produced onboard
  • Sustainability actions
  • Power usage
  • Water usage

Accurately collecting and managing reliable data is essential for understanding where we currently stand and how close we are to achieving our goals. The Green Sail Footprint Review serves as a critical tool, not only for assessing our current position but also for providing clear guidance on the steps needed to move in the right direction.
